Gun Control Cultists like to repeatedly point this out to anyone and everyone."The Second Amendments has no place in today's society," they say. "It's a product of a bygone era and means nothing in the modern world. It refers only to muskets and other old-style weapons. The Founders could not have forseen the development of semi-automatic pistols and their like. It's obsolete. Therefore we must repeal it."
The Founders also could not have forseen the development of television, movies, and the Internet.
Yet we still apply freedom of speech and freedom of the press from the First Amendment to those inventions.
But in the era of the Founders, press and speech was limited to voice, hand-written literature, and anything made by the printing press.
Nothing at all remotely like CNN, Google, or the latest Steven Spielberg flick.
Therefore we should prohibit the use of First Amendment freedoms to television, movies, and the Internet.

The Bill of Rights is not an a la carte menu in which you pick and choose what you will permit the government to respect and what it can abuse.
Funny, but most of the genocides that have been done by governments have occurred more recently in history and have been done against disarmed populations by their evil governments. That is the best damn evidence why we should never give up our arms. Molon Labe!
I defy the anti-gunners to first give up their freedom of speech, assembly, religion, and so on, before asking me to give up my weapons.
Put your money where your mouth is.
Regarding the older parts of the Constitution, it has been a while since we outlawed slavery. Perhaps it is time to bring it back. See how silly the antiquated argument is? [End sarcasm].
Been all the way down the road with this line of reasoning. Was told the 2nd only referred to single shot weapons and that we should be forced to turn everything else in.
This led to the following conversation
"Okay, let's say I agree to that. You back off and forever support my right to carry single shot pistols (I had this image of a brace of small one shot .357s along my belt).
He said, "Sure."
My followup was, "Are you really sure? No background checks, mail order, sell them in hardware stores, carry them anywhere and openly?" Sadly, no, when he thought about it, he realized that he didn't really support my right to any firearms, of any size or type. I am sure it was something he had read and was regurgitating without reflection.

I think that's the "scary" part for me when talking to Cultists. They're just parroting tired old Talking Points.
At no point do critical thinking skills every come into play.
